Contract Details
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) and Adani Power. The competitive bid submitted by Adani Power breaks down to:
- Fixed Charges: ₹3.727 per unit
- Fuel Charges: ₹1.656 per unit
- Total Rate: ₹5.383 per unit (kWh)
Project Implementation
The power will be supplied from a new thermal power plant to be established in Uttar Pradesh. This development is part of a larger initiative to address the state’s growing energy needs, with projections indicating an additional requirement of 10,795 MW of electricity by 2033-34.
Tender Background
The contract emerged from a tender launched by Uttar Pradesh to source power from a 1,600 MW thermal power plant. The state specifically sought bids for procuring 1,500 MW from a 2×800 MW (1,600 MW) project, with the tender being initiated in October of the previous year.
