The JSW Group Bengal Industrial Park aims to capitalize on the ongoing tariff disputes between the United States and China, creating an opportunity to attract established manufacturing units seeking alternative locations. “We are trying to attract Japanese and Korean companies to set up units in the industrial park here. Especially after the US-China spat that is going on now, lots of Korean and Japanese industries, which are in China and export to the US, are looking for a home for themselves. We are going to attract them here,” explained JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal during the power project’s foundation stone-laying ceremony.

The planned 2,000-acre JSW Group Bengal Industrial Park will be developed as a model industrial ecosystem in the country, providing ready-to-use infrastructure for manufacturing companies looking to establish or relocate operations. This strategic positioning could significantly enhance West Bengal’s industrial landscape and create substantial employment opportunities in the region.
Power Plant Development and Investment
The industrial park development will run parallel to JSW Energy’s ultra-supercritical thermal power plant project, which was officially launched with the foundation stone ceremony attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The power project represents a significant investment of ₹16,000 crore and marks JSW Group’s first venture into the energy sector in Eastern India.
Key Facts About the Power Project
